Athletics
Thurston Middle School is excited to offer 14 sports teams! Our school competes in the Coastal Athletic League comprised of 8 area middle schools. Waverider volleyball, basketball, and soccer teams are formed for both 6/7th graders and 8th graders, along with cross country and track & field for all grade levels. GO WAVERIDERS!

Student-Athlete Expectations
- Must be at all practices and games/competitions
- Communicate In advance…
- With the teacher prior to the game/competition
- With the coach prior to missing practice
- Above a “C” average - 2.0 GPA
- Good citizenship and Grades
- No more than Two “N’s” for citizenship
- No more than zero “U’s” for citizenship
- Above a “C” average - 2.0 GPA at all times
- No F’s
- Good attitude, energy, hustle, and respect towards others.
- Represent Thurston well!
If a student-athlete quits a team, has excessive unexcused absences from practices and/or games, and/or does not meet the behavioral expectations, they will no longer be allowed to join a TMS team for the remainder of the school year (1-week window).
