Thurston Middle School has been redesignated as a California School to Watch. Aligned with the national Schools to Watch initiative provided by The National Forum, the program recognizes junior high, middle, and K-8 schools that meet rigorous criteria for academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and whole-child support.
The Orange County Department of Education has named Michael Keller, Ed.D., Director of Social and Emotional Support for the LBUSD, as the School Counseling Advocate of the Year in the 2024-2025 OC Counselor Recognition Program.
LBUSD this week announced its 2024 Employees of the Year, recognizing June Hosokawa, a first-grade teacher at Top of the World Elementary School, as Teacher of the Year, and Paula Forino, Health Clerk at Top of the World Elementary, as Classified Employee of the Year.
Thurston Middle School celebrated the grand opening of a wellness space on campus for students, thoughtfully designed with direct integration into the social worker’s office. It provides students immediate access to a trusted mental health professional who can empower them to develop and practice real-time coping strategies for their academic success and overall well-being.
