On Thursday, May 11 at 6 pm the El Morro PTA is hosting an Internet Safety Workshop for parents in the Multipurpose Room at El Morro Elementary School. The presentation will be conducted by Kristen Amicone of the San Diego Police Foundation and co-creator of the SafetyNet program.

On March 14, the Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education approved the implementation of a new visitor registration system. The computerized visitor registration system will screen visitors to district schools to ensure efficient tracking and consistency of security procedures.

On November 8th, El Morro 4th and 5th graders participated in their own election for El Morro Student Council. Coming up to election day, 5th grade students ran in classroom primaries. The winners of the classroom primaries were then qualified to run in the general election for various Student Council offices.

In October, El Morro 3rd graders worked to raise awareness for Socktober, a fundraiser meant to help the homeless by providing socks for the neediest members of our community. Students worked with their teachers to create posters and video advertisements for the event.
